First Impressions

The Tesla Semi immediately impresses with its futuristic design and driver-focused cockpit. The center-seat driving position provides excellent visibility, and the digital instrument cluster puts all necessary information at the driver's fingertips.

Performance Testing

During our evaluation, the Semi demonstrated remarkable acceleration — important for highway merging and maintaining traffic flow. The regenerative braking system proved particularly effective, reducing wear on traditional brakes while recapturing energy.

Range Considerations

For regional hauls under 300 miles, the Tesla Semi shows genuine promise. However, long-haul applications still face challenges related to charging infrastructure and overall range. Tesla continues to expand their Megacharger network, which will be crucial for wider adoption.

Operating Costs

The potential for lower fuel and maintenance costs is significant. Electric motors have fewer moving parts than diesel engines, and electricity costs can be substantially lower than diesel fuel. These savings could offset the higher initial purchase price over the vehicle's lifetime.

Looking Ahead

While we're not ready to convert our entire fleet to electric, ProSport Express remains committed to evaluating sustainable technologies. The Tesla Semi represents an exciting step toward a cleaner transportation future.
